Guided Reading/Grammar: Complex and complex-compound sentence quiz Friday
Advanced Math: No homework today. We did 3.1 today in class. Tomorrow we will be working on using percentages with exponential growth.
Language Arts: Homework is to READ chapters 1-3 in The Westing Game and WRITE a paragraph explaining who you think the "mistake" tenant is and why.
NHD: You should continue working on finding information for your NHD topic. By the end of this week, we will be formulating thesis statements.

Guided Reading/Grammar: Students are reminded to bring their grammar notebooks to class next week, as Mr. Bergemann will continue our study of sentence structure. After winter break, this particular group will head to art.
Advanced Math: We did a review of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing of both integers and exponents, and then students were introduced to scientific notation. Next week, we will complete Investigation 3 and beginning Investigation 4 of the Growing, Growing, Growing book. The test for this book will be the Friday after we return from break.
Language Arts: No new homework. Debate essays were due today. (Students who didn't get this in have detention after school today to complete it. If they don't complete it in the time after school, they have detention every day next week until they are finished.) Mr. Bergemann introduced The Westing Game, which is the book of study until Thursday, January 17.
NHD/Social Studies: Students had time to work on NHD (unless they were not finished with their debate essays... Then this is what they were working on during that time.)

Guided Reading/Grammar: The second grammar group was reminded to bring their grammar notebooks to class, as we will continue our study of sentence structure. Likewise, we will be beginning some journaling in response to the silent reading that they have been doing every day.
Advanced Math: Students finished up Investigation 2. Homework assignment, due tomorrow:
p. 24, #1, p. 25, #3, and p. 27, #9-12
Language Arts/NHD: Block 2 walked to the Main Library today for a tour of the different resources for research there. Afterward, they were given 1.5 hours to find primary and secondary sources related to their chosen NHD topic. We will continue focusing on NHD in Social Studies until the end of January. In other news: DEBATE ESSAYS ARE DUE TOMORROW! Students who do not have it in before the end of the day will have "permanent detention" until it is complete.
