This is actually Friday's post, but I didn't have time to post it
until now. I helped a student with her math homework during lunch on Friday and
then had a language arts meeting during my prep and plan hours. Then I
had two students after school for help with some missing work. So... I
apologize! There have been no new assignments, however, so that's good.
Guided
Reading/Grammar: I believe that Monday/tomorrow is the last day before
we do the switch with art. Those of you who have been art need to be
sure that you have your novels with you starting Tuesday, as "Grammar"
has now been changed to "Guided Reading," and 40 minutes of every day
will be devoted to silent reading and, eventually, literature circles
and other reading strategy focuses.
Math: My math students have no new homework. We will finish up the Common Core Investigations Monday.
Language
Arts: Students should be prepared for a quiz via noredink.com on Tuesday. To prepare for this, they were told to complete an assignment on the same site. I will not be putting the grade for this assignment into the gradebook; however it will help prepare them for the quiz. Otherwise, I should have everyone's spooky stories, persuasive business
letters, and Journal Entry #5. If not, you are very behind.
Tomorrow/Monday we will be practicing a reading strategy that is
expected by the Common Core. I'm using nonfiction texts about Russia
for this task since on Tuesday, we will have some Russian guests.
Social
Studies: At this point, students should be focusing on getting caught
up on late work, studying their maps, and whatever Mr. Sprain assigns.
During my social studies sessions, students are working in their groups on their city planning projects.
Please email me with questions/concerns.
