Guided Reading: We briefly reviewed complex sentences today. Tomorrow, we are going to go a bit more in-depth with dependent clauses and subordinating conjunctions.
Advanced Math: We began our review for Friday's test. For tomorrow, the assignment is for students to look at the review guide and go through the Looking for Pythagoras book, writing down a list of problem areas. We will start our review tomorrow with specific questions.
Debate: Students worked in their actual debate teams today. They should have a list of arguments to support their assigned stance, and they should continue to find evidence to support these arguments. They will finalize their roles and continue to "fill the holes" of their research tomorrow.
NHD: Today the students in my social studies group worked to finalize their topic ideas. They were given a list of databases to use for research purposes, and they should start to delve into the research for their topic. Ultimately, they will need to explain why their topic is historically significant. I opened up an Edmodo group for the students, where I posted different documents that are helpful. There are three lists of topics for those students who are unsure of their topics. Also, I posted the official NHD student guide, as well as a detailed explanation of each project choice (paper, exhibit, documentary, performance, and website).
